Hey Hedon Surfers...
Flynn is taking a poll of all the surf team members to see if we want to stay together, and as part of Hedonistic Isle. Let him know (or me for that matter) what you would like to do.
It would be so cool to get a tight group and hang out instead of just share a tag. Oh well... what ever you all want :P

From Malcolm and Emme's Wedding
Oh I give up! I have been trying to post these since the wedding and that was weeks ago. Appparently Blogger hates me as much as SL does. I give you these for now and I will throw more up as I can.
These are way too late - but better late then never. I will try to not post the same pics Keala has...
OMG Can you believe Flynn in pants????

Competitors, you’ll get your rashguards and rules dropped to you before the event… and the surfboards will be provided for you on the day. Mainly, remember to read through the surf ettiquette post by Mal… the judges will be cracking down more on surfers who drop into waves. Basically, if the judges see two surfers on the same wave, both competitors might receive deductions against their score. So, be gracious and take turns on the wave, in order. Everybody should line up on the same side of the wave (the right side, if you’re standing on the beach and looking out to the waves). Take turns… one surfer per wave, please.
Woot. See ya on Saturday!
Meaning that I am wearing black. Saves me the trouble of trying to coordinate a bikini :)

Surfing Etiquette
I have it on good authority that the following was written by Malcom Sydney:
With surfing growing exponentially in SL, here are a few words about surfing etiquette.
~ The Line Up ~
As with all things in life, we will need to line up to catch a wave. If there is no line up then, the wave is all yours. However, if there are people waiting for a wave, please go to the back of the line. Jumping the queue is never a nice thing to do and will cause hurt feelings, bad vibes and frustrate others. As always, we get perfect waves in SL, so use your mini-map to check that someone else is not waiting for a wave on the other side of it before you hop on to it.
~ Paddling in ~
When you paddle out, use the channels on either side of the wave… meaning, don’t paddling out directly into the wave, ’cause most likely another surfer is going to be surfing towards you on the wave and you’ll bump into him/her. So, pick a side, any side, and paddle out to the wave avoiding the other surfers.
~ Catching Waves ~
When catching a wave, the surfer closest to the wave has the right of way. When in doubt ask the person if they are going to catch the wave. If you are the closest surfer to the wave and decide not to catch the wave, tell others ahead of time so they can enjoy the wave.
~ The Drop-In ~
The drop-in is the worst thing one surfer can do to another. If someone is already in a wave or paddle for a wave, don’t try to catch the same wave (the drop-in). This is not cool. Two people on the same wave is not fun when you are not playing bumper surfing.
~ Party Waves ~
If you are surfing with friends, then whatever, have a party. Party waves are for all to enjoy. 2+ people on a wave can be a very fun time for everyone, especially when you are playing bumper surfing. Just tell everyone the wave you are catching is a party wave or you may accidentially drop-in on another surfer.
Enjoy the waves and respect other’s enjoyment…. and have fun!

Flynn's Wake
So Phalen sends out a Beach party invite for last night, inviting everyone to say goodbye to Surf God (or was it Beach God? doesn't matter) Flynn Sheridan.
After Flynn and I stopped rolling on the ground, laughing our asses off (sometimes ROFLMAO is appropriate) we picked ourselves up, massaged our sore bellies, and Flynn sent out a reply that he in fact is only a minor deity (I snorted milk out my nose at that) and informed who ever cared that the Irish (of which Flynn is, as if you couldn't already tell, Duh!) only celebrate someone when they are dead! Thanks, but no thanks.
Well, there is no stopping Bad Boy Phelan James (as he refers to himself, I'm laughing again) when he makes up his mind. And Flynn and I never turn down a good party - and the Kahuna Beach parties are the best, with the BEST people around. So Flynn graciously allowed himself to be the guest of honor and the main excuse for the gathering. Gee Phelan, what's your excuse going to be next week? Just kidding, I love you man!
We had sooooo much fun, and I had so many chats and IMs open that I did not take one picture! I know! I can't believe it either. Let's see if I can remember who was there... Keala and Mal were there the whole time. Req popped in a danced for awhile (and spent too much time AFK - I am pushing you in the water next time bro!), SamyJo and Frankie... hmmm who else? people I hadn't met before... Blue. Geez I should pull up my chat log and see... cuz I am being muddle-brained right now. You know who was missing? Tabby! Poor girl is finishing up her semester and missed the party invite. I forgive you sweetie! We all missed you! And we stayed until the bitter end, slow dancing the night away - I knew those poseballs were a good investment! - with Phelan and Bailey. I don't ask questions. (Honestly it was so cute. Bad boy, my ass!)
And I swear to gawd, I was planning to log off and go to bed. Had to check out 1 thing - famous last words, right? Then, Flynn TP's me to the most awesome surf spot - West of Ireland! Who knew? Pulled my board out right them and there and rode the waves. LOL, didn't even bother changing clothes. Out there in my jeans. At least I was barefoot, but then I am always barefoot. **shrugs**
Went skydiving.
They had one of those pods hidden in the rocks. Kind of fun, first time I forgot the parachute - so i free-fell alllllll-- the -- waaaaayyyyy -- doooowwwwwnnn. Hee hee, thank god you can't actually break anything in SL.
Flew around the area a bit to see what the Irish are up to. Looks like a fun place to hang... i will definitely have to stop back again. And Keala has a Namiko shop there. Well of course she does! If a spot has waves, Namiko has a shop. I love you sweetie! Seriously Keala is a great person. And I want those shortie board shorts!
I think I have blathered on long enough now and should get back to work. ;)
C'ya at the beach!

Yawn!
**drumming fingers on desk**
So I get a whole half hour for lunch in the summer. WooHoo! Par-tay! I would like to spend my half-hour sneaking onto SL and see if I can whip up a new necklace. And... screeching HALT! Frickin' maintenance! Okay so I know that it is a good thing that they make sure all the electrical doo-hickies are connected and so-on. What-ev-er! Just plug that damnthing back in! I only have a half hour!
I have 6 minutes left in my lunch. It's still down. Have the Lindens actually looked at what countries and times zones would impact us the least? Just curious.
So, surf competition Saturday. To be completely honest, I am thinking about pulling out. I do not know these waves. They are my waves for god's sake. I am on them almost everyday. And I can't get a decent ride out of them. They are full of quirks, and all I get is mad when I try to surf them. And I really, I mean REALLY, do not want to embarrass myself by looking like an idiot on them. For goodness sakes, its my beach (sort of). How bad would it look if a Hedon, excuse me, Kahuna beach staff person and Hedonism Surf team member does not surf in the competition? Pretty bad, huh? *sigh* I'll compete. With my fingers crossed. And my toes crossed. Praying to Malcolm's lag god. Is there a scripting god? That is who I need to pray to -
Dear scripting god,
please let me not get stuck in the middle of the wave looking at my own ass,
please let me stay on my feet and not be paddling like mad in the pipe,
please do not throw me into the sim's edge to trapped like its quicksand,
please do not throw my 10 feet up the beach so that I have to edit myself back into the water, and
please let me see where I am going.
Please do not let me make an ass of myself.
Amen.
It is 3 minutes, no 4 minutes past the time they are supposed to be done. And my lunch is officially over.
*sigh*

Kahuna Beach Surf Competition
How could I now blog this yet? This saturday, yes, this Saturday, May 19th, is Kahuna Beach's first, and SL's 3rd Surf Competition. (I don't think I used enough commas in that last sentence).
Am I freaking out? Damn skippy! I came in last place in the competition at TWC, and I do NOT need to repeat that, and at my own beach even. I have been out practicing everyday, on several different board - geez, who would have thought there were so many different boards. I thought there was one. Heather's. Okay, so they are all Heather's. And some are Seb's too, but I am fuzzy on that. And I guess she updates the scripts. That makes sense. And she updates the waves. So the different surf spots have different versions of the waves. So you mix different boards with different waves and who know what the hell you get.
Sorry, went off on a rant there (and anyone that knows me, knows that I am not really sorry, I go off on rants all the time. That's me)
So, I know our pipe. And it's little quirks. And Flynn had Heather come out and tinker with it - and now it is completely different!!!!!! I have to start all over now. My own fault. I have been bitching about the waves non-stop, about getting stuck a third the way down the pipe, and then getting thrown 50 feet up the beach at the end of every ride.
Flynn messed with the shoreline and the depth of the surf-break and whatever, and anyway, he fixed the shoreline, and I can stop surfing before I hit the sand. Thank you honey! Now I just have to figure out what Heather did to the pipe.
And the board. I need to know what board to practice on! I have used the beach freebie board, my Hibiscus board (those two surf similar), my old Namiko board (not a good combination with this wave), my EPIC competition board from TWC competition, and a newer Namiko board (which is horrid with this pipe). Apparently there are new Namiko boards coming out anyday now,and so we can just add that to the mix.
I am sure it is me - I am new to this SL surfing thing, and new to the different boards, but this is my rant - so whatever! I am having problems. I asked what boards we are going to be using, so I knew what to practice with, and that hadn't been deteremined yet (I think). I was being very thickheaded that night, so I was having problems making sense of things. Or may be it wasn't just that night, could have just been the way I am.... a tad dense.
So back to the beach and I will just practice on all of them - see what happens. Wish me luck!
Oh yeah - the competition is at Kahuna Beach on Saturday, May 19th, time TBD. IM Keala Mimistrobell in-world if you are interested in competeing.
See you at the beach!

Mal and Emme's Wedding
I took half a billion pictures! So, let me sort through them and then I will post. All in all, it was beautiful and a huge success. I was very impressed with how it went and the site they had it at was great. It was a spot that was all set just for weddings. Poseballs and all. Lots of couples dances for the reception, salsa, swing, slow dance. Yep, there was a reception too, compplete with Champagne, cake, and dancing. LOL, and the picture taking was just as long, complicated and boring (no offense to photographer), as RL. And poor Harper. She was full of technical difficulties. Crash and rebot, crash and reboot, and repeat. She and Alex would never be able to hang out.
More to come...
More to come...

oh my goodness
life has been crazy! Real life commitments have made it impossible for me to be in SL as much as usual. Therefore, I haven't had much to say here of course. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it is going to let up anytime soon, so my presence and Flynn's at the beach is going to be limited in the for-see-able (no matter how I spelled that it looked wrong) future.
We were at the beach last night for a beach party - and it was veeery quiet. Talk to Requiem (my brother and surf god) a bit. He was with friends, and their conversation went way over my head. I gotta learn to speak another language. They were having a lovely conversation in french. After a couple of minutes I gave up. My junior high french classes only left me with understanding about every one word out of 30. Somebody said d'accord. I know that one. It means okay. Someone said attend, which I thing means listen, or pay attention. Other than that... no clue. I did catch that they were just randomly typing letters sometimes. I think they were messing with me. It's not nice to make fun of the linguistically challenged, you know! Anyway after a couple of minutes I politely excused myself (stomped off and pouted), and joined Malcolm and Flynn.
Malcolm and Emme are getting married tonight. Flynn and I are invited and I can't wait to go! I don't get the getting married in SL thing. It is probably just because I am an old married lady... but I am not sure I see the point. *sigh* I am sure it will come to me eventually and then I will feel like an idiot for saying, "I don't get it." In any event, I am sure it will be lovely and fun to see everyone, especially in something other than bikinis and board shorts!
Warren was there and joined us for a bit. He was standing with Req's crowd when I popped in. No idea if he speaks french or not. Matter of fact, for the most part, I have no idea what anyone speaks in RL. In my ignorance, I assume everyone is American and speaks English. I am sooo self-centered. I have finally got it in my head that Req is french. I feel stupid for asking where people are from, like either I should already know, or that is personal and I shouldn't ask. I need to get in the habit of looking a people's profiles.
Seano, my surf hero, and Lira popped in. Seano and Flynn had an imprompto surf chat and Lira went offline after awhile. I decided I needed to surf - I have been fighting the waves and their updates lately. Used my new board - used the beach board and all I can say is "AARRRGGGHHHHHHH!" I don't think that has a french translation. I keep getting stuck a third of the way from the end. and I can't end the ride soon enough. I try, and I try, and TRY! But every single flippin' time - the wave throws my up into the beach. I went and asked Seano and Flynn to watch what I am doing wrong. No clue. They both jumped on their boards after a bit, and tried it out. No opinion from Flynn (imagine that!) and after Seano and I tangled, stuck together the whole ride, he gave up too. I managed to avoid running into him on the wave 3-4 times. I am getting better at that. After the last time I got thrown up on the beach and got stuck in a tree (I am NOT kidding!), Flynn went to work to try to make a wave break or something. Whatever, just fix the damn thing. I have to go into edit everytime and position myself back in the water. Dork, dork, dork!
After that, Alex came for a visit. Didn't get to visit though... he must have crashed 5-6 times in 10 minutes. Bailey and I just keep up with "He's gone again" and "He's back," and "Welcome Back." About that time I had to bail to RL.
Okay, done bitching. For now.

For now.
